Tax Refund Service

Usually, what we call the overseas student tax refund actually refers to the low income tax refund. Most international students have no income during their study, so they belong to the low-income group; Some students have part-time income, but as long as the annual income is below the government's low income level, It's still a low-income group. The low income level fluctuates every year, around $12,000 to $13,000.

Every year from February to April, the government will announce the amount of the previous year's low-income tax refund, and each low-income person will get the same amount of tax refund. Therefore, the low-income tax refund in BC Province has nothing to do with the amount of consumption of the applicant.

  • When can I get my tax refund?

Generally, February to April is the standard time to apply for a tax refund. If the applicant filed during this period, the government will mail the refund checks in four separate mailings. July, followed by October, then January of the following year, and finally April of the following year. Applications that miss this period can take two to three months to process.

Applicants who already have a SIN card: We will submit your application directly. If you filed between February and April, the rebate check will be mailed at the time mentioned above

Applicants who need to apply for ITN: We need to apply for ITN first, which will take about 1-2 months. After we receive the number approved by the government, we will help you submit the tax refund application, which will take about 2-3 months to process.
