Applicants are required to have lived in Canada for 1095 days (3 years) during the 5 years preceding the date of application, replacing the previous period of 4 years (6 years), and are no longer required to have lived in Canada for more than half of cert
The amount of time legally spent in Canada within the past five years can be halved to a maximum of one year.
Applicants will no longer be required to state their intention to live permanently in Canada when applying for naturalization.
Applicants between the ages of 18 and 54 must submit language proof of their ability in English or French with a score of CLB4 or above. A language score is not required if the applicant holds a diploma above high school in Canada or another English-speak
Applicants must have reported income under the Individual Income Tax Act in three of the past five years
Applicants between the ages of 18 and 54 must complete the Canadian Naturalization General Knowledge test. Applicants between the ages of 14 and 18 and 55 and 64 are not required to take the test.
