In order to obtain a graduate work visa, you must meet the following requirements.
- Graduated from a public (or private if required) post-secondary institution with an accredited program of 8 months or more
- Completed all courses and received a letter of confirmation of graduation or a certificate of graduation from the university
- Extension of time to apply for graduate work visa from 90 days to 180 days after graduation
- Must maintain full-time study status every semester except the last semester (transcripts are required when applying for a work visa)
- If the course includes a portion of distance learning, that portion cannot be more than half of the course

In general, it can be understood that the application is within 180 days from the date of obtaining the final grade of the last semester.
Those who have completed at least 8 months (or more) of courses in Canada, and the degree is above high school, and graduated from the Canadian government designated recognized public college (or private school bachelor's degree program), can apply for this unlimited employer work permit.
This visa allows international students to stay and work in Canada after graduation and gain local work experience. Work experience that meets the immigration conditions during the work period can be used for immigration application.
A very important condition for applying for a graduate work permit is to have a valid study permit. If the graduate work permit has not been submitted and the study permit has expired, you need to renew the study permit first.
A graduate work visa can only be applied for once in a lifetime. If the graduate work visa is about to expire and still fails to emigrate, you will not be able to apply for the graduate work visa again after continuing to study other courses. To remain in legal status and complete immigration, consider applying for an LMIA to obtain a designated employer work permit or an open spouse work permit through a spouse/domestic partner.
The duration of the valid work visa depends on the duration of the course actually completed by the applicant:
* Less than 8 months, not eligible to apply for graduate work visa;
*8 months to 2 years, the length of work permit is consistent with the study time;
* More than 2 years, the length of work permit is 3 years.
The post-graduation work permit is an open work permit that does not restrict the employer, so the holder of this type of work permit can move freely to work without having to report to Immigration Canada.
